Description MCTI's Grounds Maintenance and Landscaping Program is run like a small grounds maintenance and landscaping business. Students are the crew and work as a team. Students gain actual experience on the school campus. They use power equipment and tools to mow and trim the lawn; trim and prune hedges and bushes; and plant tress, shrubs, and flowers. In the winter months, they are exposed to snow and ice removal using plows and a variety of hand tools. The "crew" maintains the equipment used.

Admission Requirements Valid Driver's License. Individuals who most closely match the U.S. Department of Labor occupational profile for a Grounds Maintenance/ Landscaping Technician are selected for enrollment. Aptitude/Abilities: Manual dexterity, motor coordination, job task planning/ organizing, follow/remember instructions, observation skills/ interpersonal communications, work without supervision. Environment: Loud, outside. Physical Demands: Medium. Temperament: variety. Educational Level 2: Work Keys scale scores RFI 65-72, Writing 67-71, Applied Math 65-70; CASAS scale scores Reading 201 - 210, Math 201-210, Writing 201-225.
