Program Description for Associate Degree Applied Science Technology

View Basket View Basket
Provider Glen Oaks Community College
Date of last update 11/8/2008
Description This degree is typically pursued when a student wishes to move directly into the workplace upon graduation. This degree is obtained in conjunction with a certificate in an occupational skill, such as drafting, automotive technician, or computer repair. While the certificate-level training prepares the student to perform the basic skills for a job in the field, the associate degree-level training prepares the student to serve in a supervisory position in the field. Post-certificate training includes courses in math, English, speech and other topics that provide students the skills to manage employees, prepare reports, and work with the public and upper level management. Therefore, a student with an associate degree in applied science in technology and a certificate in automotive technician, drafting, or machine tool, would be prepared to work as an auto service manager, CAD department supervisor, or computer numerical control programmer, respectively.
