Description MCTI's Machine Technology Program is run like a small machine shop. Students are taught to run various machines including manual lathes, milling machines, and grinders. Students use hand tools to layout, finish, fit and assemble parts. Students also learn setup and operation of CNC turning and machnining centers. Advanced students learn to use CAD/CAM software such as AutoCAD, Solidworks, and Bobcad/CAM to generate G-code for CNC machining. Depending on skills and abilities, students may earn 1 - 4 certificates.

Admission Requirements Individuals who most closely match the occupational profile for a CNC Operator are selected for enrollment. Aptitude/Abilities: Problem-solving, spatial/form perception, strong mechanical, motor coordination, good learning ability, adjusting machine tools, compute dimensions, computer literate. Environment: loud, hazardous machinery. Physical Demands: Medium. Temperment: Precise, variety, judgement. Educational Level 4: Work Keys Scale Scores RFI 75-78, Writing 75-77, Applied Math 75-77; CASAS scale scores Reading 221-235, Math 221-235, Writing 243-260
