Description Medical insurance billing professionals work for doctors, hospitals and insurance companies. They complete the paperwork that is submitted to insurance companies on behalf of patients. You will learn basic diagnostic and procedure coding, basic insurance concepts and terminology used by health insurance carriers, how to complete claim forms for commercial insurance companies including Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan, Medicare. The Medical Insurance Billing program has proven to be successful in preparing students to obtain certifications such as: Certified Medical Biller (CMB), Certified Medical Billing Specialist (CMBS), Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) through American Medical Billing Association or Medical Association of Billers and Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based (CCS-P) through American Health and Information Management Association.
