Description The Land Surveying Technology program offers specialty options either Survey Office Technician or Survey Field Technician. Either specialty is designed to provide students the opportunity to develop skills, knowledge, and abilities for entry level and intermediate positions in the land surveying and construction industry. Students successfully completing this program will have the technical background to assist registered surveyors and civil engineers in completion of project tasks. The program offers both an associate's degree in Land Surveying Technology and certificate option for those students already in the industry wishing to improve their skills. Students who successfully complete the program will develop a solid foundation in surveying and would be prepared to take the Certification for Land Surveying Technicians exams (Levels I,II,III), offered though the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping , National Society of Professional Surveyors, and Michigan Society of Registered Land Surveyors. These certifications (Level I, II, III) are recognized nationally for qualified survey technicians. The curriculum reflects a strong emphasis in state of the art surveying instrument operation, computer aided design drafting, and procedures for advanced construction layout control.
