Description Every manufacturing industry relies on the welding process in the production and maintenance areas. This welding program is designed to develop marketable welding skills and includes instruction in areas such as quality control, process control, problem solving, and experience with the newest technological advances. Career opportunities for the certificate in welding technology include: 1)Welder (MIG, TIG, Stick) Fitters 2)Welding Inspector 3)Production Welding 4)Maintenance Welding 5)Welding Machine Setters & Set-Up Operators Worldwide and local demand for welders is excellent. Typical beginning wages are $26,000 annually. This certificate is also the first year of the Manufacturing Systems Technology AAS degree. See you program advisor for specific details. Admission Requirements 1)You will need to demonstrate proficiencies in reading, English, and mathematics based on SMC assessment tests; ACT, SAT, or MEAP scores; or by taking the recommended classes. 2)You will need to demonstrate competency through testing in computer information systems. If unable to do so, you must take ISYS 110 (computer class).
