Description This certificate program allows a student to complete the training necessary to obtain licensure at the advanced emergency medical technician level. Because the EMS field is broad, students completing this program may work in a variety of different fields such as industrial, safety, ambulance (public and private), fire, and emergency room. The program is currently approved by the Michigan Department of Consumer and Industry Services. There will be an increasing demand at this level and the applied associate degree level. Upon completing the required 33 credit hours, you will be awarded your advanced emergency medical technician certificate. In order to receive certification, students must complete all course work with a grade of C or better.

Admission Requirements Preferred: High School Diploma or G.E.D. Additional Admission Requirements to Emergency Medical Technician Programs. The requirements for admission to the program are: (1) application and acceptance to the college; (2) current Basic EMT License; (3) Application to the AEMT (Paramedic) program; (4) ASSET testing and minimum proficiencies scores; (5) admission meeting eith EMS program director or designee.
